Wines That Make a Difference is an organisation set up for the benefit of vulnerable children and young persons with the aim of:
– Providing access to and or the funding of Education in the third world and developing countries.
– Developing already established Education provision in schools by way of funding teacher training, building new class rooms and providing schools with educational resources and meals.
– Developing a school and a community of vulnerable women who are the mothers and carers of the above mentioned children and young people.
– Funding programs that provide agricultural training, materials and produce for parents and carers in school communities.
In order to develop this organisation and improve the education of the children in these areas, partnerships have to be established with the children, their parents, the teachers and the wider school community.
The inspiration for Wines That Make a Difference came after the founders, Bruce Templeton and his partner Wendy, read an article in The Guardian, March 2015 – ‘If I am alive, I must have an education’ – about 17 year old Grace, who fled South Sudan and the war with her father and her younger sister Anna. Grace said the following: “To educate a girl is to educate a nation. The more I am educated, the more I will be able to do for my family and my community”.
Since coming across Grace’s story, Bruce and Wendy have become dedicated in their support for providing access/funding to education in developing countries to support vulnerable children.
Over several decades, the late Harry Waugh MW and renowned collector Bruce Templeton built one of the world’s most impressive fine wine collections. Past director of Château Latour, consultant to the Ritz, the QE2 and Annabel’s, Harry used his legendary palate and connections to help Bruce build one of the greatest collections of Burgundy in the world. Today, the funding for Wines That Make a Difference comes from the money raised from the sale of specialist wine from Bruce’s private wine cellar, auctions, and charity events.
